Background Dental bleaching is a common clinical practice. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of 35% hydrogen peroxide (HP) bleaching gel on the morphology and microhardness of enamel, and to analyze the effect of four remineralizing agents. Methods One hundred blocks were prepared. The enamel surfaces were bleached with 35% HP in one session. The specimens were divided into four remineralization treatment groups (n = 25). G1: Tooth Mousse, G2: Remin-Pro, G3: Colgate Pro-Relif, G4: Mirafluor. The remineralizing protocol was applied 3 min per day for one week. Vickers microhardness (HV) measurements and SEM observations were performed at baseline, after bleaching, and after remineralizing treatment in all groups. Statistical analyses were performed using the paired t-test and ANOVA. Results After bleaching, SEM showed an increase of irregularities on the surface of the samples. Enamel microhardness decreased a mean of 47.7 HV, equivalent to a mean decrease of 18.3% (p < 0.05). After remineralization, the HV increased in all groups between 16 and 33% (p < 0.01), recovering the initial microhardness of enamel samples. SEM images revealed a higher quantity of superficial mineral deposits in groups 1 and 2 compared to the rest of the groups. Conclusions The application of remineralizing products generates a significant increase in enamel microhardness. Tooth Mousse-treated samples showed a greater microhardness recovery, followed by Remin Pro. The superficial morphology of the samples reflects the results obtained in the HV tests.

Objectives: Resin adhesive could be used as a carrier of nano-hyrdoxy apatite particles added to treat early enamel caries. The aim of this study was to evaluate microtensile bond strength of a remineralizing enamel infiltrant to early carious enamel lesion.Methods: An artificial caries model was used to induce early partially-cavitated enamel carieslike lesion in maxillay centrals. Nano hydroxyapatite particles (nHA) were applied in two forms to a low shrinkage low viscosity resin adhesive: particles were directly added to resin adhesive or silanated before addition. Unmodified adhesive was used as control. Micro-tensile bond strength (MTBS) was performed to evaluate bond strength to demineralized enamel after application of the remineralizing resin adhesive (n=20, α=0.05). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was performed to assess mode of failure and to study infiltrant-enamel interface.Results: Direct addition of nano-particles resulted in significant reduction (F=32, P<0.001) in MTBS (19 MPa ± 3.8) compared to addition of silanated particles (24 MPa ± 3.2) which presented comparable values to the unmodified enamel infiltrant (26 MPa ± 4.1). SEM image analysis revealed adhesive failure observed for directly added particles while the other two groups demonstrated cohesive failure observed in the resin adhesive. On the other hand, direct addition of nHA resulted in partial remineralization of enamel (42% recovery in calcium content).Conclusions: TTEMA/TEGDMA enamel infiltrant could be used as a carrier for nano hydroxyapatite particles without compromising bond strength to early carious enamel lesions.

Caries develops when the remineralization and demineralization equilibriums are out of balance. When the demineralization level exceeds 30%, the enamel suffers irreversible damage. As a result, non-invasive techniques for early detection and management of these reversible incipient lesions are recommended. Fluorides are the most important and effective, and their local efficacy has been widely researched. Many new innovations have been introduced for remineralisation of early lesion, such as ACP-CPP, Self-assembling peptides, etc., CPP–ACP is a milk product that aids in remineralization and dental caries prevention. Amorphous calcium phosphate is delivered by casein phosphopeptide, which also aids ACP binding to dental enamel. The natural amino acids Glutamine, Glutamic acid, Phenylalanine, Tryptophan, Serine, and Arginine make up the self-assembling peptide P11-4, which is intended to form brils at low pH and to be monomeric at higher pH. Furthermore, studies to be conducted to learn about the mechanism of Self assembling peptides.
