Abstract:Radiographs have been a very essential tool for diagnosis as well as prognosis and treatment planning in dentistry. However, there are various limitations associated with the use of 2 dimensional radiographs which are most commonly used. The use of 3 dimensional radiographs has a number of advantages over the conventional techniques, especially in the field of periodontics. This review aims to shed light on the importance of CBCT as a diagnostic aid in routine periodontal practice.
