Background: The purpose of this study was evaluating the relationship between fatty acid (FA) intakes and the Assisted Reproductive Technique (ART) out-comes in infertile women. Methods: In this descriptive longitudinal study, a validated food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) was used to measure dietary intakes among 217 women with primary infertility seeking ART treatments at Isfahan Fertility and Infertili-ty Center, Isfahan, Iran. The average number of total and metaphase II (MII) oocytes, the fertilization rate, the ratio of good and bad quality embryo and bio-chemical and clinical pregnancy were assessed. Analyses were performed using mean, standard deviation, Chi-square test, ANOVA, ANCOVA, logistic regres-sion. Results: A total of 140 women were finally included in the study. There was a positive relationship between the average number of total and MII oocytes and the amount of total fatty acids (TFAs), saturated fatty acids (SFAs), monoun-saturated fatty acids (MUFAs), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), linoleic ac-ids, linolenic acids, and oleic acids intakes, while eicosapentaenoic acids (EPAs) and docosahexaenoic acids (DHAs) intakes had an inverse relationship. Consuming more amounts of TFAs, SFAs, PUFAs, MUFAs, linoleic acids, and oleic acids was associated with the lower fertilization rate, whereas the con-sumption of linolenic acids and EPAs increased the fertilization rate. The ratio of good quality embryo was directly affected by the amount of PUFAs intakes. Additionally, there was a negative correlation between the amount of SFAs in-takes and the number of pregnant women. Conclusion: TFAs, SFA, PUFA, and MUFA intakes could have both beneficial and adverse impacts on ART outcomes.

Background: Infertility is defined by WHO as a disease of the reproductive system defined by the failure to achieve a clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. The prevalence of infertility is about 10%-15% of reproductive age couples. Female factor is responsible for 40-45% of etiology of infertility. Aim of the study was to evaluate the role of diagnostic hysterolaparoscopy in female infertility at a tertiary care centre.Methods: This is a retrospective hospital based study done at a tertiary care hospital attached to JSS Medical College, Mysuru between January 2017 and December 2018. Infertile women with primary or secondary infertility in the 18-40 years age group, with normal hormonal profile and no known male factor were included.Results: In our study, primary infertility was found in 77% of the 96 patients and secondary infertility was found in 23% of patients. In primary infertility, ovarian pathology was the most common finding while Endometriosis was the most common finding in secondary infertility group. 77 % patients were found to have bilaterally patent tubes while remaining had unilateral or bilateral blockage. On hysteroscopy, endometrial polyps were the commonest hysteroscopic finding in both groups.Conclusions: Combined hystero-laparoscopy is a safe, effective and reliable method in comprehensive evaluation of infertility. It helps in the diagnosis of pelvic pathology which may have been missed by routine examination and thereby helps in optimal management of female infertility.

Background: The two approaches for evaluating the female reproductive system are hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. Laparoscopy is becoming a standard component of infertility evaluation by virtue of its capability to visualize and manipulate the uterus, the ovaries and fallopian tubes. Hysteroscopy has become an important investigative tool for discovering possible causes of female infertility by examining the uterine cavity. The goal of this study was to examine the role of hystero-laparoscopy in diagnosis women with unexplained infertility.Methods: A total of 202 cases who were 20-35 years old women with 1ry or 2ry unexplained infertility were studied in this cross-sectional observational analytical study. All patients were subjected to: evaluation (physical, abdominal and bimanual), routine laboratory investigations, basic investigations (documentation of sound ovarian factor: hormonal assays and pelvic ultrasonography, normal hysterosalpingography, normal husband semen analysis) and hysterosalpingography (HSG) was reviewed or completed.Results: Abnormal laparoscopic was significantly higher in secondary cases compered to primary infertility (p=0.043). Abnormal combined hystero-laparoscopic was significantly higher in 2ry infertile cases compered to 1ry infertile cases (p=0.006). Pairwise comparison between 1ry and 2ry infertility was statistically significant difference (P=0.004).Conclusions: The percentage of abnormalities found during laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, are difficult to be visualized by the use of other noninvasive methods. While a thorough history, thorough examination, and early studies such as pelvic ultrasonography can all lead to the suspicion of numerous abnormalities, a considerable percentage of abnormalities may go undetected.
