Role of Energy Mix in Determining Climate Change Vulnerability in G7 Countries

Abstract: Anthropogenic activities are responsible for greenhouse gas emissions, causing extreme events like soil erosion, droughts, floods, forest fires and tornadoes. Fossil fuel consumption produces CO2, and trapping heat is the major reason for a rapid increase in global temperature, and electricity generation is responsible for 25% of greenhouse gas emissions. Fossil fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and their adverse impact have become the focus of efforts to mitigate climate change vulnerability. This study explore… Show more

“…Our results provide improved insights for policy makers enacting energy policies in the EU countries. Our findings suggest that the EU countries should reduce the use of dirty fossil fuel and increase certain types of RE sources in their energy mix to fulfill the European Green Deal and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals related to improving environmental quality (Dai et al, 2022). Policy makers should also encourage practices that target lowering energy intensity through increasing energy efficiency and reducing fossil fuels.…”

“…Dai et al argued that clean energy development is necessary for economic growth and a source of response to climate change using the energy mix as a measurement indicator for clean energy development [ 65 ]. We used the energy mix as the threshold variable to conduct this regression, which yielded insignificant results.…”

“…But the favorable impact of these expenditures grows and then declines with time. For example, Dai et al ( 2022 ) analyzed public expenditure and green industrial progress in the BRI area from 2008 to 2018 by just looking at the function of green financing in the region’s economic growth.…”
