Role of fake news and misinformation in supply chain disruption: impact of technology competency as moderator

Abstract: Studies show that COVID-19 has increased the effects of misinformation and fake news that proliferated during the continued crisis and related turbulent environment. Fake news and misinformation can come from various sources such as social media, print media, as well as from electronic media such as instant messaging services and other apps. There is a growing interest among researchers and practitioners on how fake news and misinformation impacts on supply chain disruption. But the limited research in this ar… Show more

“…In addition, the absorption peak of CO 2 at 1760 cm −1 disappeared, and the intensity of the absorption peak of CO 2 at 2360 cm −1 decreased, while the absorption peak of NH3 appears at 920 cm −1 in the gas infrared spectrum (Figure 9E,F). Therefore, this fact demonstrates that IFR and BHET jointly inhibit the release of flammable gases and reduce the weight loss of the polymer matrix 39–41 . Based on the above systematic analysis, the possible flame‐retardant mechanism of IFRWPU is proposed, shown in Figure 9G.…”

“…The business community has started thinking about how industry 4.0 technology could help misleading combat information, especially how it could check such misinformation and fake news (Chatterjee et al, 2022). Petratos (2021) suggest that business sectors can create and use a range of anti-misinformation, disinformation, and fake news tools.…”

“…Existing studies indicate that information sharing and supply chain visibility are effective strategies for mitigating supply chain disruptions (Akhtar et al , 2022; Brandon-Jones et al , 2014). However, the effectiveness of these strategies can be weakened by information distortion and network risks, resulting in even more severe supply chain disruptions (Chatterjee et al , 2023; Petratos and Faccia, 2023). Blockchain technology, with its distributed ledger and consensus mechanism, addresses the limitations of other technologies in this regard, making it a promising solution for enhancing SCR (Chowdhury et al , 2023; Min, 2019).…”
