Role of Integrated Nutrient Management on Oat: A Review

Abstract: Food security and environmental safety are the two important areas receiving major setback with the use of chemical fertilizers. Sustainable food supply in response to population demand urges for a paradigm shift from chemical-based agriculture to some eco-friendly approaches. Integrated nutrient management or combined approach of using different sources of nutrients is relevant in this context as it optimisez profitable crop production and improves soil health without deteriorating environment further. Food s… Show more

“…During earlier days, organic agriculture was self-sufficient to produce food for the population. As population growth gradually occurred, it failed to sustain and chemical based agriculture took its place through green revolution (Biswas and Das, 2022). However, setback in crop production due to continuous application of chemicals has become prominent from 1990 onwards and Indian agriculture is showing paradigm shift again towards organic agriculture to an extent (Biswas, 2020).…”

“…In earlier days, agriculture was practiced using organic inputs and as the population was less during that time, food produced organically was sufficient to meet the demand of the population. W ith gradual increase of population and shrinkage of agricultural land area, organic agriculture became insufficient to ensure food security of the nation (Biswas and Das, 2022). To relieve the nation from the clutches of food scarcity, green revolution came in picture in mid 60s, which not only opened the path for intensive agriculture but also ensured jump in productivity levels to meet the food demand of the country.…”
