Abstract:Two types of glass compositions, with MgO and CaO modifiers, respectively, were used to promote liquid-phase sintering of 2 mol% MgO-BaTiO 3 at 12801C in reducing atmosphere (pO 2 5 10 À9 atm). By combining the observations of the grain size of about 1 mm for both specimens and the diffusive phase transition only when MgO modifier was used, it has been interpreted that an appropriate solubility of BaTiO 3 is necessary to yield the fine and composite microstructures via a dissolution-reprecipitation process. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
