Abstract:BACKGROUND: It is well established that most colorectal carcinomas arise from conventional adenomas through the adenoma-carcinoma sequence (ACS) model. mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) pathway has been reported as a crucial player in tumorigenesis. The MAPK signaling pathway is activated by different extracellular signals involving the “mitogen-activated/extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1 (MEK1)”, and this induces the expression of genes involved in proliferation and cellular transformation. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
