Abstract: Aims & Hypothesis The palatine tonsils are aggregates of lymphoid tissue in the lateral oropharynx. In children, tonsillar enlargement can lead to upper airway obstruction and sleep‐disordered breathing (SDB). The reason for tonsillar enlargement in some children, and not others is unknown.
