Role of Parent Affective Behaviors and Child Negativity in Behavioral Functioning for Young Children With Developmental Delays

Abstract: Early in life, parents play a central role in shaping emotion regulation abilities (Thompson, 2014), though much of the research on parental influences is focused on typically developing children. The current study examined individual and interactive effects between parent and child affective behaviors when children were 4 years old and their association with behavioral functioning 1 year later in a large sample of children with developmental delays.
