Role of serum matrix metalloproteinase in the diagnosis of gastric cancer

Abstract: Objective: To determine the clinical value of a matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) antibody array in diagnosing gastric cancer (GC). Methods: In this prospective study, serum samples of patients with GC (n=66) and non-neoplastic gastric disease (NGD; n=34) were collected between November 2017 and July 2018. The quantitative measurement of 10 MMP-related proteins was done using MMP arrays and compared between the two groups. Results: The serum levels of MMPs 3, 8, 9 and tissue inhibitor of metalloprotei… Show more

“…17 It combines the advantages of the high detection sensitivity, specificity of ELISA, and the high throughput of arrays with only a small amount of sample volume. 18 Here, we use Quantibody human inflammation array 3 (QAH-INF-3, RayBiotech, Peachtree Corners, GA, USA) to systematically measure the changes of 40 common inflammatory cytokines in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients after 1 week of intensive insulin therapy using CSII. Bioinformatics analysis was used to study the possible related mechanism.…”

“…The Quantibody array, also known as antibody‐based sandwich microarray, is one type of the protein microarrays, which uses cytokine specific antibodies for detection 17 . It combines the advantages of the high detection sensitivity, specificity of ELISA, and the high throughput of arrays with only a small amount of sample volume 18 …”

“…It should be noted that the activities of MMP-2, MMP-7, and MMP-3 in serum samples were closely related with whether the tumor has spread and broadly increased with the stage of GC patients (Figure S11). The results indicated potential application of this strategy for diagnosis and staging of cancer.…”

“…The combination of gastroscope and biopsy is still considered the gold standard for diagnosing GC, however it is an invasive test (10). The early diagnosis of malignant cancer types can be achieved by using numerous methods, including blood detection, genetic testing and cancer biomarker analysis (11)(12)(13)(14), for example, researchers have discovered that long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in body fluids or multiple serum matrix metalloproteinases with protein biochip technology in gastric cancer can be used as a biomarker for early screening and diagnosis (13,14). In order to improve the early diagnosis of malignant tumors, multiple biomarkers, such as extracellular vesicle and particles (15), urine DNA methylation assay (16), the combination of plasma hsa_circ_0000745 level and CEA (17) have been identified and circular (circ) RNAs have become a research hotspot (18,19).…”
