“…This initially seems to be good for providing a Th2 environment in the oviduct because a successful reproductive process is a Th2 response manifested by increased systemic production of IL-10 and IL-4 (Kwak-Kim et al, 2003). However, evidence exists that IL-4 and IL-10 serum concentrations were higher in women with reproductive failure (Mahdi, 2011;Liang et al, 2015); unlike the present study, these studies assessed systemic concentration of cytokines. Similar to our model, Rajaei et al (2011) found that endometrial stromal cells of normal fertile women produced lower levels of IL-10 in comparison with repeated implantation failure group.…”

“…The increased numbers of macrophages would be indicative of an inflammatory condition, while the increase in Tregs and MDSCs would be indicative of an immunosuppressive state, which opposes the necessity of immunostimulation for successful pregnancy initiation. To this extend, maternal serum collected after the 7-day l-Cn treatment showed to contain increased levels of the immunosuppressive cytokine IL-10 (P < 0.05 as compared with controls; data not shown), which has been found increased in women with reproductive failure and has been suggested to participate in early pregnancy (Mahdi 2011). By the same token, increased levels of progesterone could be detected in the 7-day l-Cn-treated pregnant mice, which could further fortify the immunosuppressive state of the mother early in pregnancy (Xu et al 2011).…”

“…Previous studies suggested that ability to generate a healthy fetus and successful in vivo fertilization occur in the oocytes in follicles with lower concentration of IL-1β in follicular fluid (Revelli et al, 2009). reason may due to IL-1β role in suppressing estradiol and progesterone release from granulosa and luteal cells (Mahdi, 2011).…”

“…Interleukins as a group of cytokines are important for reproductive processes and work as immunoregulatory molecules responsible for modulating several biological responses including the ovarian function (Calogero et al, 1998 andMahdi, 2011).…”
