Abstract:We consider the centers with negative electron-electron correlation energy. It is shown that in strong electric field the effective electron-electron correlation energy can become positive. As a result the Fermi level shifts and the conductivity increases sharply which we call the conductivity transition. This transition may cause the nonlinearity and a sufficient increase of the current density while data recording in chalcogenide-based phase-change memory (PCM).

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
