Role of the clinical engineer in patient monitoring services

Abstract: The basic role of a clinical engineer is to provide safe and effective management and application of technology within patient care settings. In the UK the total number of such people is still relatively small. Clinical engineering as a profession requires a proper career structure and professional status. This can be achieved only by the support of a professional body such as the Biological Engineering Society.
