Role of Triacetin additive in the performance of single cylinder D I diesel engine with COME biodiesel

Abstract: In the present work, COME-Triacetin additive blends are experimented in lieu of the neat diesel fuel. Pure coconut oil methyl ester (COME) itself as an additive has advantages in the operation of engine. Attention is bestowed upon the reduction of HC, NO, CO2, CO and smoke emissions, and the same is successfully achieved with the 10% Triacetin and 90% COME blend fuel. Vibration on the engine cylinder in three directions and on the foundation were measured and analyzed to elicit information about the nature of … Show more

“…In addition, the use of triacetin as an additive for diesel and biodiesel also reduces the emission of pollutant. Regarding the investigations carried out on the blends triacetin/biodiesel and triacetin/diesel, the combination of 10% by weight of triacetin with biodiesel is the one that shows the best results [155][156][157][158][159][160][161][162][163][164][165][166][167][168][169][170]. Finally, beneficial effects of triacetin on the cloud point and cold filter plugging point have also been revealed in several studies [171][172][173].…”

“…The brake thermal efficiency of the engine was improved by 2% with the usage of TiO 2 nanoparticles in B20 blend and 6% reduction in BSFC value is with TiO 2 nanofuel in comparison to plain oil [5]. Ethanolbiodiesels have lower cloud points for all blends compared to cloud points obtained for diesel fuel alone [6]. Many researchers investigated that without doing modification in the standard engine, the fuel properties such as the high temperature and low temperature properties of biodiesel can be enhanced by using different fuel additives such as oxygenated additives, metal based additives, antioxidant additives, cold flow properties improver, lubricity improver additives and cetane number improver additives [7,8].…”
