Abstract:Orthodontists from a long time have been trying different methods for reducing the treatment time. Vibratory stimulation has been advocated as a possible adjunct to orthodontic appliances to increase the rate of tooth movement and also decrease the pain associated with orthodontic treatment. This article summarises the different types of vibratory appliances used in orthodontics as well as role of these appliances in accelerating tooth movement and reducing pain.
