Roll-to-roll micro-gravure printed P3HT:PCBM organic solar cells

Abstract: Roll-to-roll (R2R) micro-gravure printing is an attractive technology for fabricating organic solar cells (OSCs) at low cost with high throughput. The nanoscale morphology and phase separation of R2R micro-gravure printed active layers have a large influence on the photovoltaic performance of OSCs. Herein, we demonstrate that the photovoltaic performance of R2R micro-gravure printed P3HT: PCBM OSCs can be enhanced by optimizing phase separation using solvent engineering. R2R microgravure printed P3HT:PCBM blen… Show more

“…Roll-to-roll printing is a mature and manufacture-oriented strategy to product flexible electronic devices on a large scale. Cooperating with the precast gravure, desired patterned component layers can be produced with high throughput. In recent years, microgravure was commonly used in thin-film solar cells, which was suitable for depositing film at a thickness of several micrometers.…”

“…Unlike the processes discussed earlier, roll-to-roll printing is limited to flexible substrates only, which have already been demonstrated in the manufacturing of several kinds of electronic devices. [223,[236][237][238][239][240][241][242] The equipment is illustrated in Figure 11a,b. With the NH 4 Cl additive, which will assist the crystallization in air, a PCE of 11.16% was achieved.…”
