Room temperature ferroelectric properties and leakage current characterics of Bi2FeMnO6/SrTiO3 bilayered thin films by chemical solution deposition

Abstract: Bi 2 FeMnO 6 /SrTiO 3 (BFMO/STO) bilayered thin films were grown on LaNiO 3 (LNO) buffered Si(100) substrate by chemical solution deposition. The structure and surface morphology of the bilayered thin films have been characterized by X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy. The Au/ BFMO/STO/LNO thin-film capacitor showed well-saturated hysteresis loop at an applied field of 330 kV cm À1 with remnant polarization (2P r ) and coercive electric field (2E c ) values of 1.3 mC cm À2 and 80 kV cm À1 , respecti… Show more

“…In this work, we report a complete study of the electrical properties of bulk BiFe 0.5 Mn 0.5 O 3 , a double perovskite synthesized in high-pressure/high-temperature (HP/HT) conditions, that can be considered a solid solution of the two end members BiFeO 3 and BiMnO 3 . , Herein we show that bulk polycrystalline BiFe 0.5 Mn 0.5 O 3 , besides films and heterostructures, is definitely multiferroic; in addition to the already reported magnetic properties, a ferroelectric polarization at low temperature is clearly detected. Moreover, the observed correlation between the magnetic and electric degrees of freedom opens the route to further characterizations specifically focused on the study of possible magnetoelectric coupling.…”

“…Besides, in the BZT/PZT/BZT/LNO thin film, the leakage current exhibits an unsymmetrical characteristic, which is higher at positive bias voltages. A possible reason may be the asymmetric electrodes that lead to different interfacial Schottky barrier heights and induce the unsymmetrical characteristics of IV curve (Shen et al, 2014;Fan et al, 2015;Chen et al, 2020). To further study the effects of the LNO seed layer on the polarization behavior of thin films, piezoelectric force microscopy (PFM) was employed to directly observe the polarization reversal behavior, based on the evolution of piezoelectric response.…”
