“…The results of a large number of published reports [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] indicate that the presence of SiC or other ceramic reinforcements leads to significant improvement in creep resistance through mechanisms of load transfer at particle-matrix interfaces, interaction of dislocations with sub-micrometer size dispersoids, and also due to the formation of dislocation substructure in the matrices. However, a few studies [21][22][23] have also shown the creep resistance of some of the P/M processed Albased composites to be worse than that of unreinforced powder metallurgy processed (P/M) Al, particularly when the size of the reinforcement is coarse or when load transfer at the particlematrix interfaces is weak.
