Abstract:Quaternary ammonium salts play an important role in asymmetric
catalysis. However, the asymmetric induction in this class of catalytic
cycle is often inefficient because the orientation of the counteranion
is not well-defined due to the tetrahedral geometry of the quaternary
ammonium cation. Herein, we report a proof-of-concept study on formulating
hydrogen-bonded ion-pair catalysis for asymmetric halogenation. Secondary
ammonium salt catalyzed the asymmetric bromination-induced semipinacol
rearrangement and h… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
