Abstract:Standard treatment for Parkinson’s disease (PD) is dopamine replacement therapy with L-DOPA. However, chronic treatment often results in abnormal involuntary movements called L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia (LID). Prior evidence indicates that heightened striatal cholinergic tone may contribute to LID.
