Rules for using reduced doses of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants in the prevention of thromboembolic complications in patients with atrial fibrillation. The expert opinion of the Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy of the Polish Cardiac Society

Abstract: Non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) are commonly used in stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation. Although the rules for using standard and reduced doses of NOACs are defined, there is a significant percentage of patients with AF treated with incorrect doses of NOACs. This expert opinion provides a summary of appropriate NOAC dose selection and an algorithm that facilitates it.
