Abstract: Post-Soviet conflict; Protracted conflict process Definition involvement persuade observers to consider Russia a party to the conflicts. This interpretation has become clear during Ukraine's crisis as Western observers have interpreted Russia's meddling in Ukraine mainly as an attempt to set the scene for another protracted frozen-conflicts situation as part of the Kremlin's "revisionist line" against the European order.
