“…Herein, we present the synthesis, physicochemical characterization, and preliminary biological study on anticancer activity in vitro evaluated towards lung adenocarcinoma of four novel piano-stool ruthenium(II) complexes. These organometallic complexes are an extension of the mono(aminomethyl)phosphane complex (RuPP 1 ) reported recently [10], in which Nethylpiperazine ring was replaced by heterocyclic moieties of fluoroquinolones: ciprofloxacin (RuPCp), sparfloxacin (RuPSf), norfloxacin (RuPNr) and lomefloxacin (RuPLm) (Fig. 1).…”

“…Our team has been working with this class of ligands and their Cu(I), Pt(II) and Ru(II) complexes and, in many cases, the properties of the derivatized molecules and their complexes are more interesting than the parent ones. For example, we worked with trisaminomethylphosphanes derived from morpholine and thiomorpholine (see for example refs 3437 ) and a variety on N4-substituted piperazines 34,35,3841 , as well as with monoaminomethyldiphenylphosphanes 4042 , including a derivative of a model dipeptide 43 and the derivatives of selected fluoroquinolones: ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin 4446 , lomefloxacin 47 and sparfloxacin 4850 . Some of the compounds listed above showed interesting antimicrobial and/or anti-tumour activity.…”
