Rutin alleviates cardiomyocyte injury induced by high glucose through inhibiting apoptosis and endoplasmic reticulum stress

Abstract: Diabetic cardiomyopathy is a common complication of diabetes, in which endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) serves an important role. Rutin can treat the myocardial dysfunction of diabetic rats. However, to the best of our knowledge, studies on the effects of Rutin on myocardial injury caused by diabetes from the perspective of ERS have not previously been reported. In the present study, the role of rutin in the regulation of ERS in myocardial injury was assessed. Different high glucose concentrations were used … Show more

“…Similar activities were also found in cryptochlorogenic acid and isoquercitrin (Zhou, 2020). Rutin could alleviate high glucose-induced H9C2 cell damage by inhibiting apoptosis and endoplasmic reticulum stress (Wang, Wang, Li, & Yao, 2021). Hyperoside significantly inhibited apoptosis induced by high glucose in a dose-dependent manner (W. Wu et al, 2020).…”

“…During caecal ligation and puncture surgery, rutin inhibits cardiac apoptosis in high-glucose and sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy [ 33 , 34 ]. Rutin also decreases the rate of apoptosis in the liver and kidneys in rats with deltamethrin-induced hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity [ 35 ]. After macrophages are incubated with BisGMA, rutin decreases the rate of apoptosis and necrosis [ 8 ].…”

“…In odontoblast-like cells, TEGDMA decreases the activity of CAT [ 31 ]. Moreover, rutin decreases the level of oxidative stress by ameliorating the activity of SOD and CAT in cadmium-, valproate-, and deltamethrin-induced hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity [ 3 , 35 , 55 ]. We observed similar findings with rutin ameliorating the TEGDMA-inhibited activity of SOD and CAT.…”

“…Similarly, rutin also alleviated diabetic complications through apoptosis [ 46 ]. Myoplast cells stimulated with different glucose concentrations and then treated with rutin showed an improvement in cardiomyocyte injury through the direct inhibition of apoptosis and endoplasmic reticulum stress [ 47 ].…”
