Rutin protects against gamma-irradiation and malathion-induced oxidative stress and inflammation through regulation of mir-129-3p, mir-200C-3p, and mir-210 gene expressions in rats’ kidney

Abstract: Kidney injury represents a global concern, leading to chronic kidney disease. The organophosphate insecticide malathion (MT) demonstrates environmental disturbance and impairment of different mammalian organs, including kidneys. Likewise, gamma-irradiation (IRR) provokes destructive effects in the kidneys. Rutin is a flavonoid glycoside that exhibits nephro-protective and radio-protective properties. This manuscript focused on investigating the protective response of rutin on MT- and IRR-triggered kidney injur… Show more

“…In the current study, malathion significantly upregulated the expression of NFκβ in the kidney tissue and curcumin significantly ameliorated this elevation. This results in agreement with [39,40]; moreover, the same changes in the expression of TNF-α and curcumin reversed these changes, a finding similarly demonstrated by [41,42].…”

“…127 Rutin inhibits γirradiation-induced oxidative stress and inflammation in rats by downregulating miR-200c-3p. 128 Resveratrol downregulates miR-200c-3p in breast cancer cells (Table 4). 129 4.1.7 | miR-21-5p miR-21-5p is upregulated by several natural products (Table 4).…”

“…The damaging properties of ionizing radiation have been contributed to the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reduction of the activity of antioxidant enzymes. Gamma-rays provokes destructive effects in the rats' kidney (Jit et al, 2022;Ismail et al, 2023). Moreover, the kidney is usually exposed to high doses of radiation in the treatment of some cancers in abdominal region radiotherapy (Azmoonfar et al, 2023).…”
