“…Due to the northward subduction of the Hongliuhe-Xichangjing Ocean (Song et al, 2013b(Song et al, , 2014Hu et al, 2015;Yuan et al, 2018), the metasandstones of the accretionary complex reflect the basement properties of the Minshui-Hanshan Block, the age characteristics for the sample (4442-1) are shown to include two main peaks at c. 1186 Ma and 1287 Ma with several minor peaks at c. 606 Ma, 749 Ma, 968 Ma, 1476 Ma (Fig. 7e).…”

“…Previous studies mainly focused on the age and geochemistry of the ophiolites, magmatism, metamorphism and Precambrian rocks (Hu et al, 2006(Hu et al, , 2010Li et al, 2009Li et al, , 2011Mao et al, 2012a, b;Song et al, 2013a, b;Ye et al, 2013;Guo et al, 2014Guo et al, , 2017Yuan et al, 2015;Liu et al, 2015;Yang et al, 2016;He et al, 2018;Wang et al, 2018Wang et al, , 2019Zhao et al, 2018b;, but little attention was paid to the age and provenance of the siliciclastic rocks in the Beishan orogenic belt. This seriously affects our ability to understand the evolution of the Paleo-Asian Ocean and the process of ocean-continent transition.…”

“…The Gongpoquan Arc to the north of the HNMX ophiolitic mélange comprises Ordovician-Silurian rhyolite, rhyolitic volcanic breccia, altered andesite, feldspathic sandstone, quartzite, schist and marble, containing Silurian conodonts such as Amarphgnathrs sp., A. amorphognthiform, A. holodontiform, A. tetraprioniodiform, Parathlgnathusobesus and Spathognathodusprimus (Zuo et al 1994). Recently, more and more published isotopic age data indicate that the northern Gongpoquan arc formed during Ordovician -Middle Devonian time (Song et al 2013b(Song et al , 2014(Song et al , 2015Wang et al 2016Wang et al , 2018b, and this arc was the product of the northwards subduction of the Palaeo-ocean (Ao et al 2012;Song et al 2014Song et al , 2015. Further south, the Shuangyingshan-Huaniushan Arc developed to the south of the HNMX ophiolitic mélange.…”

“…The emplacement of the northern Lebaquan complex, the product of N-dipping subduction and other events within the Mazongshan complex during Ordovicianlate Silurian time (Song et al 2015), suggests that intra-ocean subduction continued until at least Middle Ordovician time (Ao et al 2012). (3) Magmatic activity peaked during Late Ordovicianlate Silurian time (Zuo et al 1994;Xiao et al 2010c;Mao et al 2012;Song et al 2014;Ding et al 2015;Wang et al 2018b;Zheng et al 2019). With continuous N-wards subduction of the Palaeo-Asian Ocean, andesites and basalt-andesiterhyolite-quartz-trachyte-trachy basalts were extruded in the Gongpoquan subduction-generated arc (Wang et al 2016(Wang et al , 2018bZheng et al 2019).…”
