S100A9 regulates cisplatin chemosensitivity of squamous cervical cancer cells and related mechanism

Abstract: ObjectiveOur previous research has shown that the expression of S100 calcium-binding protein A9 (S100A9) in tumor cells was associated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy sensitivity in cervical squamous cell carcinoma. In the present study, we altered the expression of S100A9 through infecting lentivirus, investigated its effect on the chemosensitivity to cisplatin of cervical cancer cells and then made a primary exploration of the involved mechanism.Materials and methodsLentivirus was employed to upregulate and do… Show more

“…mir-374a serves an important physiological role in drug resistance and proliferation of cancer cells; li et al (21) discovered that mir-374a is a ddP-resistant regulator in human ovarian cancer cells and the expression levels of miR-374a in ddP-resistant ovarian cancer cells were higher than those in non-DDP-resistant ovarian cancer cells (19). FOXO1, a vital transcription factor that mainly participates in cell proliferation, is closely associated with drug resistance of cancer cells (37). in the present study, knockdown of mir-374a using a mir-374a inhibitor inhibited the growth of ovarian cancer cells and promoted cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase.…”

“…Glutathione-S-transferaseπ (GST-π) is significantly increased in patients with NSCLC. The increase of GST-π indicates that the tumor is insensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy and has a poor prognosis (Zhao et al, 2018). Similarly, p53 gene is mutated in about 60% of patients with NSCLC, and its mutation often occurs in the early stage of tumor occurrence, so if specimens can be obtained in time, it will be helpful for early diagnosis (Wu et al, 2020).…”

“…Protease-activated receptors (PARs) are a group of transmembrane G-coupled receptors which are activated by cleavage in the extracellular domain. A link between proteolytic activity and the development of CC has been reported [34]. Sá nchez-Herná ndez, et al proved that the expression level PAR2 is significantly increased in CC cell lines and 16 patients specimens [35].…”

“…S100 calcium-binding protein A9 (S100A9) has been determined to be upregulated in diverse cancers and plays an important role in resistance to chemotherapy. The overexpression of S100A9 boosts the phosphorylation and inhibition of FOXO1 through PI3K/AKT and MEK/ERK signaling pathways and leads to poor response to cisplatin-treatment in SiHa cells [34]. FOXO1 directly regulates the apoptotic genes including OCT4, SOX2, and NANOG.…”
