S100B protein related neonatal hypoxia

Abstract: -Biochemical markers have played an increasingly relevant role in the assessment of neonatal asphyxia. The S100B protein is particularly important in re s e a rch conducted in this field. The purpose of this study was to underline the importance of the S100B protein in the assessment of term newborn infants with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, as well as to relate it to other substances also involved in the ischemic p rocess. An assessment was made from September 2003 to October 2004 of 21 term newborn infant… Show more

“…Further, 23 studies were excluded after reading the full text, and 2 studies were excluded because of a lack of highly related data. Finally, 13 case-control studies (Martins et al, 2006;Cheng et al, 2007;Murabayashi et al, 2008;Gazzolo et al, 2004Gazzolo et al, , 2009Sun et al, 2009;Jin et al, 2011;Liu et al, 2011a;Ding, 2013;Li et al, 2008Li et al, , 2013Ma et al, 2013;Nong et al, 2013), published between 2004 and 2013, were incorporated in this meta-analysis. The 13 studies included a total of 646 HIE neonates (150 mild HIE, 106 moderate HIE, and 390 severe HIE neonates) and 381 healthy controls, with sample sizes ranging from 21 to 121.…”
