“…In einer prospektiven randomisierten Studie an 100 Zirrhose-Patienten mit hohem Blutungsrisiko aus Ösophagusvarizen zeigte sich, dass sowohl EVL allein als EVL + Propanolol effektiv in der Primär-und Sekundärprophylaxe waren. Propanolol konnte weder die Mortalität noch die Blutung vor Varizenobliteration vermindern, aber es scheint das Auftreten von rezidivierenden Ösophagusvarizen zu verringern [98].
