Saccharopolyspora halotolerans sp. nov., a halophilic actinomycete isolated from a hypersaline lake

Abstract: A novel actinomycete strain, designated TRM 45123 T , was isolated from a hypersaline habitat in Xinjiang Province (406 209 N 906 499 E), northwest China. The isolate was characterized using a polyphasic approach. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strain TRM 45123 T belonged to the genus Saccharopolyspora and was closely related to Saccharopolyspora gloriosae (96.7 % similarity). The G+C content of the DNA was 69.07 mol%. The isolate contained meso-diaminopimelic acid as the diagnostic diamino aci… Show more

“…Major polar lipids are phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylmethylethanolamine. Members of the genus Saccharopolyspora have been isolated from a broad range of habitats, including plant materials [4], soil [5, 6], marine sponge [7], fodder [8], salt lake [9, 10] et al . In this study, another novel species with the type strain E2A T isolated from coral is described.…”

“…2). They were frequently reported from coastal sediments and from marine organisms (sponges, tunicates) (Pimentel-Elardo et al 2008;Souza et al 2017;Suksaard et al 2018), in addition to extreme marine habitats such as deep-sea sediments and hypersaline lakes (Lv et al 2014;Jiang et al 2016;Xia et al 2017). A number of Saccharopolyspora species have been also reported as endophytic micro-organism in different plants (Qin et al 2008;Qin et al 2010;Vaddavalli et al 2014).…”
