Safety and Quality in the Agricultural Product Chain in Brazil

Abstract: Abstract"n agriculture-intensive country should be aware of natural toxins, including both mycotoxins and cyanotoxins, which are closely associated with the quality of raw materials, for food safety and industry. The major production chains -corn, wheat, beef, and broiler chicken -are the top components of agribusiness, and they should be tracked by reliable and practical tools. The corn chain is of particular concern in food production intensive controls, multi-year mycotoxin monitoring, and improved harmless… Show more

“…This undesired interference can be minimized by simple sample dilution, or by including adequate cleaning-up steps prior to the analysis. However, the dependence on expensive imported commercial kits discourages the constant repetitive analysis of the same sample or its dilutions in the field of agroindustry (Ono et al, 2004;Hirooka et al, 2015).…”

“…The anti-aflatoxin monoclonal antibody (mAb) provides unrestricted possibilities for the development of quantitative or semiquantitative assays such as Elisa intended for monitoring aflatoxins in food products. These immunochemistry-based methods employing mAb offer high-sensitivity and adequate limits of detection/quantification, in comparison with HPLC-based methods, and can be applied to different agricultural raw materials to detect the presence of toxins (Hirooka et al, 2015).…”
