The paper considers the task of real-time rendering of dynamic relief shadows based on ray casting using origin relief data - detailed height map. The solution proposed is based on looking for shadow rays - sun rays, whose tracks on height map are passed through heights occluding the light. GPU-based methods and algorithms for extracting such rays using an accelerating data structure - a mipmap of maximum and minimum relief heights are developed. This structure provides an effective acceleration of shadow rays extraction by skipping long sections of sun ray tracks that are not involved in relief shadowing. In algorithms developed precise traversing such a data structure is implemented, as well as texture filtering is taking into account, which allows the formation of "torn" shadow edges to be prevented. The solution created was implemented in software complex and a number of comparative shadow visualization tests was conducted. The results of the research can be used in virtual environment systems, video simulators, scientific visualization, educational applications, etc.

The paper presents the original development of the stand for remote creation and debugging of the visualization system for the display of a civil aircraft cockpit. Any visualization system implies the presence of a person for whom it is ultimately intended. Naturally, such presence is necessary for the process of creating and testing the system. However, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, access to the premises of scientific institutions is limited. The situation is further complicated by the fact that the development of on-board software must take into account the specifics and be carried out on the target onboard equipment. Therefore, we designed and built a stand which provides remote secure access to the target platform, its remote control and makes possible to see the results of its work. We managed to avoid costly solutions and use a regular desktop PC as an auxiliary control computer. As a result the process of developing a visualization system for the cockpit display is not interrupted even when access to the target platform equipment is restricted.

In this paper, the topic of integrating visualization tasks to be solved using the Vulkan API into virtual environment systems based on OpenGL visualization, is researched. The problem of Vulkan-OpenGL hybrid visualization and an approach to its solution, based on a modified render-to-texture technique, are described. The technology of constructing an original embeddable program shell (VK-capsule) is proposed, which allows hybrid visualization as a "black box" to be worked with, obtaining an image in the OpenGL frame buffer at the output. The paper presents the developed structure of the VK-capsule, comprising three program blocks (VK-, GL- and I-block), and describes methods and algorithms for their construction. Based on proposed technology, methods and algorithms, a VK-capsule for height field visualization task was developed, which utilizes hardware-accelerated ray tracing, Vulkan API supported by. The approbation of the developed VK-capsule was carried out, which showed that proposed solutions are effective and meet the task. The results obtained can be used in virtual environment systems, scientific visualization, video simulators, virtual laboratories, educational applications, etc.
