Safety tag generation and training material recommendation for construction workers: a persona-based approach

Abstract: PurposeEffective construction safety training has been considered to play a significant role in reducing the incidence of accidents. However, the current safety training methods pay less attention to the relationship between workers' personalized characteristics and their learning needs, which results in workers' low learning participation and poor training effect. The purpose of this paper is to improve the participation and effect of safety training for construction workers with a persona-based approach.Desi… Show more

“…Concurrently, another strand of work has emerged, focused on customized safety training to meet workers specific needs. Studies have proposed personalized feedback for VR training [31], [32], optimization-based VR training scene synthesis [33] and training content recommendation based on workers' personal characteristics and learning needs [6]. Undoubtedly, significant advances have been made to address the shortcomings of conventional pedagogic approaches in construction safety training.…”

“…Construction workers require safety training to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and mitigate potential hazards in their work environments. This, in turn, enables them to work safely and minimize the risk of accidents and injuries [6]. The effectiveness of safety training initiatives is contingent on the provision of appropriate educational materials; however, in practice, numerous challenges inhibit the retrieval of safety training materials that are appropriate for specific worker and jobsite needs.…”
