Users and learners nowadays are seeking their education on online platforms such as Open edX, Udemy, Udacity, and Coursera. However, online learners are faced with cumbersome tasks and various challenges to search for the required courses matching their individual goals, knowledge, and interest. With the huge amount of data and material available over the internet for MOOCs, users often face the difficulty of making the right decision to choose the right course that perfectly defines their interest and fulfills their learning requirements. Hence, the lack of targeted recommendations for MOOCs can drive users to choose irrelevant MOOCs. Recommender System (RS) plays a crucial role in assisting learners to find appropriate MOOCs to improve learners’ engagements and their satisfaction/completion rates on the courses that satisfy their learning requirements. Basically, the aim is to visualize the student's areas of interest, which should not differ from the course recommendation and the overall structure of the course.

Qur’an is Allah (SWT)’s greatest miracle and is the source of all knowledge and information. As a Muslim, obligation is not only to recite the Qur’an but also it is important to gain knowledge from the Qur’an. Ontology is the best way to retrieve Quranic knowledge in a technical way. With the help of internet many search engines are found to discover information from Qur’an. But most of the search engines or information retrieval systems are keyword-based which can often lead to irrelevant results. To overcome this problem, semantic search is most useful in this case. The aim of research is to develop an ontological semantic based method to retrieve the food related verses and concepts from holy Qur’an by using natural language query. In this work, triplet extraction algorithm has been used for generating triple, the protege OWL editor 4.3 version used to create food ontology and the SPARQL Apache Jena fuseki server was used for querying. Considering the progress of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Information Technology (IT) we witness, during recent years, the spread of the application of these technologies in various fields. The research workflows, and in particular, the researches on Islamic sciences are not excepted from this issue. Several works have been carried out in order to exploit the AI and modern information technologies in the researches on Islamic sciences during recent years all over the Islamic regions and beyond them. It is very important to be aware of the latest developments in this field from different aspects like: 1) Benefiting from the advantages of modern technologies in the Islamic researches, 2) Reorganizing the educational plans in accordance with these developments, and 3) Introducing the new applications of AI in Islamic studies to the academics of computer sciences who may be interested in this field. In this paper, in the first step, a systematic review was conducted concerning more than four thousand international scientific articles related to applying AI and modern IT in Islamic studies, out of which 975 ones were chosen. At the same time, major institutions in this field were identified. In the next step the selected articles were classified in five thematic fields of 1) the Holy Qur’an, Tafsir and other related issues, 2) Hadith and Rijal Sciences, 3) Islamic Law and Jurisprudence, 4) the General Islamic Content in Social Media, 5) Other Subjects related to Islamic Sciences like Linguistics, History, Geography, etc. In the third step, the articles of each category were classified in a number of major subcategories that amount to 73 in total. Finally, in the last step, the distinctive articles in each field were introduced briefly.
