It is worth noting here that in the great majority of these families the hygienic conditions were unsatisfactory, and contacts had not been previously vaccinated against typhoid and paratyphoid fevers, which has been shown by Levine, Enright & Ching (1962) to confer some heterologous immunity against salmonellas of groups B and D.…”
