Salvage of the infected and/or exposed breast prosthesis remains a challenging yet viable option for a subset of patients. Relative contraindications include atypical pathogens on wound culture, such as gram-negative rods, methicillin-resistant S. aureus, and C. parapsilosis. Patients with a prior device infection and/or exposure and a history of either radiotherapy or S. aureus on wound culture should be monitored closely for signs of recurrence and managed cautiously in the setting of elective breast surgery.

ÖSSZEFOGLALÁSNapjaink felgyorsult tempójában a plasztikai és rekonstrukciós beavatkozások, kezelések terén jelentős változások jelentek meg. A korábban alkalmazott radikális sebészeti beavatkozások háttérbe szorulása mellett a kevésbé megterhelő kezelési módszerek térnyerése jellemző. A gyors, könnyen kivitelezhető, akár "ebédidőben" is alkalmazható, jó esztétikai eredménnyel járó kezelések rohamos növekedése észlelhető napjainkban. Mindig törekedni kell a legmegfelelőbb eljárás kiválasztására, mely mind a beteg mind a kezelő orvosa számára megelégedéssel szolgál. Kulcsszavak: rekonstrukció -zsírszívás -mikrostruktúrált zsírtöltésbotulinum neurotoxin -szálbehúzás SUMMARYSignificant changes have emerged in the field of plastic and reconstruction procedures in the last couple of years due to accelerated lifestyle and higher demands of patients. In addition to the previously widely used treatment alternatives often including radical surgical interventions, there is a clear tendency observable towards less invasive methods. The number of fast, easily manageable "lunch time" surgeries providing appropriate aesthetical outcome has significantly risen lately. One should always try to choose the most appropriate procedure that will satisfy both the patient and the surgeon.

Salvaging the exposed mammary prosthesis

Abstract: The authors present a new approach to handling the problem of extrusion of mammary implants. The prosthesis is removed and reintroduced in the same operation. Five cases are discussed.
