Sar Calculations of Novel Textile Dual-Layer Uwb Lotus Antenna for Astronauts Spacesuit

Abstract: A novel dual-layer ultra-wideband lotus-wearable antenna is presented in this paper for integration on astronaut's flight jacket to monitor the vital signs of astronauts. The proposed antenna is designed and fabricated on a leather material as a substrate to operate over a frequency band (2-12 GHz). The dielectric constant ε r = 1.79 and loss tangent tan δ = 0.042 of the leather material are measured by using two different methods. The proposed antenna has three-strip lines in the 2 nd layer for performance en… Show more

“…In another study [ 140 ], a wearable textile logo antenna was proposed that was designed for military applications operating at the ISM band. In the literature, many other flexible antennas were reported for on-body applications that fall in the ISM frequency band [ 141 , 142 , 143 , 144 , 145 ].…”

“…2,3 As a vital part of these systems, Wearable antennas mainly used fabric textile materials that could be integrated with clothes. 4,5 The microstrip antennas also showed spectacular advantages in different fields of study. 6 They are light and can be comfortably applied on-body.…”

“…Hence, PD is not as useful as SAR or temperature for evaluating safety in mm-wave devices, especially in the near field. Therefore, SAR has been used in several studies as one of the dosimetric quantities at mm-waves to study the exposure [29][30][31][32][33][34]. Therefore, it is important to conclude the temperature elevation in the human tissues along with SAR and/or PD values calculations, whereas the rise in temperatures in human tissues after exposure to radiation indicates high power absorbed in these tissues [35].…”
