“…In image fusion procedures, multispectral channels, characterized by a coarser spatial resolution than the panchromatic, are downscaled through analytical models based on the panchromatic-derived spatial information (Eyers et al, 1998;Chini et al, 2011;Martha and Kerle, 2012;Kurtz et al, 2014). The False Colour Composites (FCCs) of the VHR images are often used to discriminate lithologies or terrain having different characteristics (weathering, water content, vegetation cover) (Ciampalini et al, 2012;Lamri et al, 2016).…”

“…Techniques like principal component analysis require an in-depth field verification study for classifications and the spectral properties of specific lithology to provide sophisticated techniques for transformations (Watts and Harris, 2005).In this study, we have used the band ratio concept where each band is being emphasized and mathematically used to derive one target (waste rock dump) by eliminating the shadow effects caused by relief structures present in the study area. Numerous authors have employed this band ratio technique to identify, categories, and map distinct rock units ( Xu et al, 2004;Gomez et al,2005;Ninomiya et al, 2005;Gad and Kusky, 2006;Zoheir and Emam, 2012;Matar and Bamousa, 2013;Elmagd et al, 2015;Rajendran and Nasir, 2014;Lamri et al, 2016;Guha and Vinod Kumar, 2016;AbdelmalikandAbd-Allah, 2018;Zhou et al 2018.,Abdelmalik, 2019Kamel et al, 2021).…”

“…In North Africa, Adiri et al [63] combined Landsat and ASTER data to map sedimentary rocks in Morocco. Lamri et al [64] combined airborne magnetic and gamma-ray spectrometry data with ASTER data to map geology in a hardly accessible area in Saharan Africa. Integration of the two data sets allowed mapping of the Paleozoic and aeolian sand sedimentary cover, and the underlying granitoids.…”
