Scabies Infestation in the Pediatric Population

Abstract

Scabies infestation is a pruritic condition that is commonly seen in the pediatric population. Children are affected more than adults in certain geographic regions and can have variable clinical presentations. To avoid delays in diagnosis, healthcare providers should be aware of these differences. This article provides an overview of epidemiology and pathophysiology, clinical presentation and diagnosis, and management of scabies infestation, with a particular focus on infants and children.
