Scale-factor corrections in the optical inertial sensor

Abstract: In the operations of optical inertial sensors, geometric variations due to temperature and operation environments cause thermoelastic deformations of their components, which lead to changes in the area and perimeter of their resonator block. The fluctuations in the geometric scale factor are corrected by the piezoelectric actuator. This article presents the numerical formulation of the elastic behaviour of each piezoelectric actuator, and the numerical formulations are verified through comparisons with the res… Show more

“…Detection of absolute rotation [1,2] has significant importance in fundamental physics for testing gravitation theories [3,4] and in practical applications for improving navigation systems [5,6]. The Sagnac effect [7][8][9][10][11] and detection of rotation induced pseudo forces [12,13] are the two most commonly used methods for absolute rotation detection.…”

“…1,2 After avoiding the lock-in effect, [3][4][5][6] the interest in the conceptual design of the laser gyro began to focus on the practical solution of stabilizing the beam path. [7][8][9][10][11] Additionally, control scheme and experimental behavior analysis of piezoelectricactuator can be considered to apply and operate the piezoelectricactuator properly. 12,13 This paper presents a practical mathematical model of a piezoelectric actuator used in the laser gyros.…”
