For example, selective habitation of various bacteria on rat tongue papillae (1,9) and lingual mandibular gingiva (10) has been demonstrated and these authors have also suggested it to be related to the pattern of keratinization. To elucidate the relationship between sites of Candida infection, the pattern of keratinization and epithelial surface morphology a correlative study of rat oral mucosal surface characteristics using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and light microscopy (LM), was undertaken.…”
