Scars of COVID-19: A bibliometric analysis of post-COVID-19 fibrosis

Abstract: BackgroundThe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) becomes a worldwide public health threat. Increasing evidence proves that COVID-19-induced acute injuries could be reversed by a couple of therapies. After that, post-COVID-19 fibrosis (PCF), a sequela of “Long COVID,” earns rapidly emerging concerns. PCF is associated with deteriorative lung function and worse quality of life. But the process of PCF remains speculative. Therefore, we aim to conduct a bibliometric analysis to explore the overall structure, hots… Show more

“…Cited and co-cited documents refer to research in which one document cites another, and multiple documents cite the same one, respectively ( 35 ). Research references help scholars understand hotspots and frontiers in a field, identify key documents with important value, reveal academic networks, and strengthen knowledge dissemination.…”

“…Co-occurrence analysis can identify high density keywords to detect research hotspots and was conducted using VOSviewer based on the author's keywords [ 15 ]. VOSviewer was developed by Van Eck and Waltman and has been widely used in bibliometric analysis research for knowledge mapping of large-scale documents [ 16 ].…”

“…The parameters of reference co-citation included time slicing (2013–2022), years per slice (1), node type (cited reference), selection criteria (top N = 50), and no clipping. Co-citation burst detection was used to reflect a sharp increase in attention to a research topic within a time period [ 15 ].…”

“…This is a powerful tool for “co-occurrence” network clustering and density analysis. In addition, while VOSviewer lacks data pre-processing and fast matrix generation functions compared to the COOC software, its powerful graphical presentation capabilities allow for better visualization of bibliographic relationships and provide an excellent operating environment for this study ( 40 , 41 ).…”
