Abstract:In this paper, we study the problem of makespan minimization for the multiprocessor scheduling problem in the presence of communication delays. The communication delay between two tasks i and j depends on the distance between the two processors on which these two tasks are executed. Lahlou shows that a simple polynomial-time algorithm exists when the length of the schedule is at most two (the problem becomes N P-complete when the length of the schedule is at most three). We prove that there is no polynomial-ti… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
