This chapter investigates scholarly communication theories used in preventive dentistry and digital technology. Researchers differ in the approaches they look at a problem, which is why a single problem can be studied from different perspectives leading to different conclusions. The study used Scopus to retrieve 29585 documents and restricted to 5-year period of 2019-2023 where 6000 documents were used for analysis. Many prominent authors contributed in the preventive dentistry. There are also international collaborations. Further, the study revealed a number of theories used in preventive dentistry, which include dentistry and oral hygiene, oncology and dentistry, pediatric dentistry and lifestyle, periodontology and diabetes, knowledge and behavior in oral health, ageing and oral care, caries prevention and dental education, orthodontics and biofilms, among others. There is an increase in the use of theories in preventive dentistry and a growing field of studies that has the potentiality of expanding the horizon of the profession.
