Core Ideas Citizen scientists learned how to develop sound methods to rule out plausible explanations through the use of models. Citizen scientists engaged in increased levels of discussion about models following project participation. Developing models may help prepare citizen scientists for independent endeavors. Citizen science programs pose excellent opportunities for science learning through volunteer engagement in authentic science projects, often with scientists. In this article, we share data on whether the development, discussion, and revision of models resulted in an improved description of scientific practices. We engaged individuals in a collaborative citizen science project where individuals use online resources to pose locally based research questions and use modeling practices to design research. These individuals also gathered data to support or refute their models. Project leaders were interviewed before and after project participation to determine the extent to which ideas about scientific practices have changed. We found that these individuals developed a greater capacity to independently ask and answer questions related to successful research design.

One of the innovations in English Language Teaching is the use of moving images. This research aims to investigate how animation contribute to the students' achievement in their English class. A classroom action research was applied with 39 first grade students involved. Observation sheet, test and documentations were used to collect the data. Three components (reduction activity, data presentation and interpretation) were used to analyse the collected data. The results indicate that the use of animation can significantly enhance lower class of primary school students’ achievements in learning English. This can be measured through their average score improvement. This result suggests teachers use moving images in order to assist students’ progress in learning English. This study implies that teachers should equip themselves with a skill to create fun classroom activities through animation. HIGHIGHTS: The application of moving picture media in classroom activities can significantly improve students’ competence and achievement in learning English for first grade of second semester in Primary School. Teachers' digital literacy need to be heightened through their active contribution in workshop or other teacher professional development activities. This helps them to build their creativity to make more modification and development of animation.

Citizen Science (CS) projects provide a space for collaboration among scientists and the general public as a basis for making joint scientific discoveries. Analysis of existing datasets from CS projects can broaden our understanding of how different stakeholder groups interact and contribute to the joint achievements. To this end, we have collected publicly available forum data from the "Chimp&See" project hosted on the Zooniverse platform via crawling its Talk pages. The collected data were then analysed using Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Epistemic Network Analysis (ENA) techniques. The results obtained shed light on the participation and collaboration patterns of different stakeholder groups within discussion forums of the "Chimp&See" project.
