“…A mapping of science is used to show the relationship between elements or aspects of science and scientologists, and indicators are developed to be used in policy and management contexts [50]. Given the growing interest of science and technology studies in the globalisation of knowledge production and the location of these activities in specific locations [51,52], the work was carried using information from the Web of Science (WoS) Science Citation Index (SCI-E) with "between 1975 and 2020" as an indicator, which covers most of the important international journals in the area of pure, applied, and medical sciences, and the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), which covers the area of social sciences [49].…”

“…Studies on SEW follow the line of research based on behavioral theories (Araya-Castillo et al, 2021). According to these studies, SEW includes all non-financial aspects of the firm satisfying the family's affective needs (Sciascia et al, 2014).…”

“…According to these studies, SEW includes all non-financial aspects of the firm satisfying the family's affective needs (Sciascia et al, 2014). Creating SEW explains behavioural differences between family and non-family firms, and among family businesses across different generations, because SEW is a kind of resource that is difficult to imitate (Araya-Castillo et al, 2021) and characterizing the generational stage a family firm is going through. In fact, the relevance of SEW and its impact on the debt maturity structure of family businesses are likely to change on the basis of the generation running the family business (Gómez-Mejia et al, 2007).…”

“…Family businesses represent an important pillar of the global economy (Eddleston et al, 2019;Eddleston et al, 2020;Gagné et al, 2019;Massis et al, 2018), as well as employers or as economic growth engines (Araya-Castillo et al, 2021;Bjuggren et al, 2011). These entities are dominating among small, medium, and large businesses (Alonso Dos Santos et al, 2020).…”

“…These entities are dominating among small, medium, and large businesses (Alonso Dos Santos et al, 2020). About 70 to 90 percent of the world's GDP is generated by family businesses, which subsequently help in wealth creation, generating employment, and bringing prosperity to most of the countries (Araya-Castillo et al, 2021). Beginning in the 1980s, academic interest in family firms increased significantly (Pieper, 2010), as Figure 1 depicts.…”
