Scientometrics of Engineering Research at Indian Institutes of Technology Madras and Bombay during 2006-2015

Abstract: Makes an assessment of 5378 papers published by Indian Institute of Technology Madras and 4430 papers published by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay respectively indexed by the Scopus database in the field of Engineering Sciences and its sub-field during 2006-2015. The study indicates that the number of papers grew during the period of study. The findings indicate that the researchers of both the IITs in the field of engineering sciences published their papers in global journals published from USA, UK and … Show more

“…In order to assess the 5,543 publications by 783 faculty members, the authors created a composite indicator (CI) using the directional-benefit-of-doubt (directional-BOD) model. Pradhan and Ramesh (2018) evaluated the comparative research performances in terms of publication outputs and citation impact of 72,940 research papers indexed in the Scopus database during the period 2006–2015 of six Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee). The findings showed that the research output of six IITs have accelerated in an inconsistent way from 5,378 in 2006 to 8,405 in 2015.…”

“…This study also came out with significant conclusions that private universities may surpass the Central Universities in terms of research output in near future as well as they also seem to perform well on international collaboration front. (Banalata Pradhan & Ramesh, 2017) conducted a scientometric study wherein they have analysed the research performance of two renowned IITs viz. IIT Bombay and IIT Madras during 2006-2015.…”
