Abstract:Enzyme; alkaline phosphodiesterase and phosphomonoesterase; EC 3.1.3.1; a metalloprotein that contains one Fe 3+ ion and two Ca 2+ ions.Bacillus subtilis PhoD is an extracytoplasmic phosphodiesterase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphodiester bonds. It also possesses phosphomonoesterase activity.
