Abstract: BACKGROUNDRNA interference (RNAi) is an endogenous eukaryote viral defence mechanism representing a unique form of post‐transcriptional gene silencing. Owing to its high specificity, this technology is being developed for use in dsRNA‐based biopesticides for control of pest insects.
